With the launch of the Auris Hybrid in 2010, Toyota became the first manufacturer to offer a choice of three powertrains-conventional diesel or gasoline and hybrid electric-in a C-segment vehicle. The Auris Hybrid emits only 79 grams of carbon dioxide (CO_2) per kilometer (km) of driving and has a combined cycle fuel economy of 3.5 liters of fuel per 100 km. The Auris Hybrid model currently accounts for more than half of all Auris sales in Western Europe, a mix expected to grow over the next few years. More than 200,000 hybrids have been sold, and the Auris is the bestselling hybrid in Europe.
