製紙機械のうち抄紙機には多くのロールと軸受が使われており，その潤滑は油潤滑が主流であるが，グリース潤滑も多く採用されている.使用されているグリースは一般的に産業機械向けの汎用グレードの製品が使われることが多いが，最近ではより耐熱性や極圧性•耐水性·せん断安定性などを特徴にした製品も使われている.さらに，条件の厳しい箇所では海外の特殊グリースが単独で使われることもある.%Paper machines use a lot of rolls and bearings where oil lubrication is generally used and grease lubrication is also used in many cases. The grease generally used there is a wide use product for industrial machinery. However, recent products with superior heat resistance, extreme pressure and water resistance and shearing stability are also used. Special grease manufactured abroad is sometimes solely used in the parts that experience severer conditions. Since several kinds of grease are used in a paper machine, we have to sometimes apply them to the machine using an automatic central lubrication system and other times manually apply them to it using a grease gun. So lubrication control has become difficult and complicated. Due to recent social changes around the paper industry and cost reduction trends, lubricant use conditions have become severe with each passing year. Also due to accelerated paper manufacturing speed, a burden on the machines increases; temperature and load conditions have become severer; maintenance intervals are extended; a burden on the bearings and lubricants has greatly increased. So we have to select appropriate grease satisfying each condition. This article explains the outline of grease; traditional characteristics and weak points of grease by classification; new type grease recently attracting attention.
