Worries about the possibility of a 'no deal' Brexit scenario are on hold as the UK and EU get started on the next round of negotiations during the transition period to December 2020. So now, the more immediate priorities for the waste and resources sector will include: the new Environment Bill; the second round of consultations on packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), a Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) for beverage containers, consistent collections and the plastics tax; and the implementation deadline for the EU Circular Package.
