Global consumption tops 100 billion tonnes

The global economy has reached a new peak of material consumption, with 100 billion tonnes of materials now used each year, while becoming less circular at the same time. This was the conclusion of the Circularity Gap Report 2020 unveiled by not-for-profit research organisation Circle Economy at the Davos World Economic Forum in January.
