My working week

What does a normal week entail? I've very recently taken up a new position at Spelthorne Borough Council in Surrey. I have worked at a number of councils in the county, so feel like I know the territory quite well! My new job will allow me to get more involved with the planning and policy side of things, whereas -before -1 was mainly focusing on frontline, operational issues, such as solving residents' refuse collection problems. Now I will get a chance to influence the council's approach - to ensure that, when it's implemented, it's as effective as possible. I will work with the elected members to formulate policies that meet the promises they made to the residents who voted for them.
