When it comes to toys for the boys, few come in a much more fun-shaped package than the Tonka-like Mercedes-Benz Unimog. Although never having sold in great quantities over here, (around 100 units a year), the Unimog nevertheless represents the archetype go-anywhere, do-anything vehicle. So word that a new and comprehensively revised version of the vehicle is now to be launched in the UK was always going to cause a stir of excitement, with - as we discovered when we tried one for ourselves - some considerable justification. According to sales director, Mark Hopkins, the new generation Mercedes-Benz Unimog displays first real innovation since the range was launched around 20 years ago. And it does.
