The controversial subject of land remediation in the UK has once again been brought to the fore. With its pledge to ensure that 60 per cent of all domestic construction takes place on Brownfield sites, the UK Government is working hard to encourage developers to reclaim contaminated land. The recent introduction of regional land contamination registers, compliance notices and the risk of significant penalties for those who fall foul of them, places an equal impetus on site owners to deal with dormant land that previously, they would be quite happy to forget.
