MSW incineration: flue gas treatment technologies for reliable compliance and residue management

The enactment and implementation of several EU Directives relating to sustainable development and the protection of the environment will impose new obligations on the way in which waste is managed in the UK. Since new, and later, existing energy from waste facilities (EfW) will be subjected to a broader range and more stringent regulatory conditions - including tougher emission standards to land, water and air - it would seem timely and prudent for the waste disposal industry to re-assess prevailing EfW business strategies, particularly with respect to plant design and operation.
