The Directive on the promotion of electricity from renewable energy sources in the internal electricity market is closer to adoption following the proposal's second reading in the European Parliament. Unusually, talks between the Parliament's rapporteur on this issue, Mechtild Rothe, and the Council of Ministers were held to reach agreement on a compromise text before the second reading took place to avoid the proposal, going to the Conciliation Committee.
