NEW TECHNOLOGIES: MOVING FORWARD FOR 2005

Since the launch of Defra's New Technologies strand of the Waste Implementation Programme (Wip) in April 2004 progress has been positive. Plenty has been achieved but we are looking forward to building on this success in 2005 with new initiatives and by placing emphasis on those areas that require further information and support. Throughout 2004 the New Technologies Supporter Programme has been at work producing information on the options for the treatment of biodegradable municipal waste (BMW), including the Introductory Guide to Emerging Technologies, an overview of the Supporter programme, a guide to the Waste Data Centre and most recently a decision tree of funding and advice across all the Wip work streams.
