Can ambitious EU and UK government plans for waste be satisfied by a non-incinerator route? I don't think so, and mine is not a view fed from the pro-incinerator lobby but, perhaps surprisingly, from the composting industry. Incineration is seen as the grim reaper of the waste world - a dead certain outcome but with a lot of resistance before it achieves that outcome. But is it as bad as it is made out to be? There is clear evidence that the incineration industry is cleaning up its act.
