The construction and demolition industry creates three times more waste than all 21m households in the UK put together with 36.2m tonnes sent to landfill every year.With the forthcoming introduction of new Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) legislation, coupled with mounting pressure from the industry to increase the environmental performance of projects, sustainability is without doubt a key issue facing the construction industry.
