摘要

The results of an informal survey conducted by the Waste Improvement Network (WIN) at the tail end of last year have been released. WIN asked councils to share what they had done to achieve low waste arisings or large decreases in waste arisings, on the previous year, and found that introducing an alternate weekly bin collection had a "genuine minimisation effect". This system, along with other restrictions on residual waste, was "key" according to the responding councils. Councils with low arisings reported a common theme of strong enforcement and persistent communications campaigns being key to their success.
