LGA Calls For Landfill Cash To Develop Allotments

The Local Government Association (LGA) has called for the Government to make some of the money raised through the Landfill Tax scheme available for councils to set uprnallotments on areas of disused land.rnThe Landfill Communities Fund, which allocates some of the funds collected through the tax, is unable to give grants to either restore or set up new allotments, and with an estimated 200000 having been lost in the last 30 years (equivalent to an area 15 times the size of Hyde Park), the LGA is keen to redress the balance.
