Wales' Zero Super Heroes

There are moves across the UK towards the goal of establishing a zero waste society and in Wales this has meant the launch of a comprehensive strategy to become totally waste free by 2050.rnFollowing consultation the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) formally launched its overarching waste strategy document, Towards Zero Waste, on 21 June. Consultation on part one of a Municipal Sector Plan, which details proposals for waste prevention, preparation for re-use and some collection issues, was launched alongside the strategy. The draft of the second part of the sector plan, to be published in 2011, will look at individual waste streams and legislation, funding and behaviour change. Sector plans for construction and demolition, retail, waste management infrastructure and markets will detail the actions business, communities and organisations need to take. The strategy is a revision of Wise About Waste, published in 2002.
