OK Jim, tell me about your job. I work as director of the Caledonian Environment Centre, part of the School of the Built and Natural Environment at Glasgow Caledonian University. We are a team of 14 professional staff working across two important environmental subject areas: waste and carbon. How did you get into this industry? It would be nice to be able to say that my career in the waste industry was planned - but often circumstances and opportunities take over! I studied civil engineering and, due to a lack of opportunities in the economic downturn of the early 80s, I stayed on and did a PhD in river hydraulics.
