The meaning of the word "waste" has evolved. In fact, the waste industry is in a continual process of change and if we approach the sector in terms of "evolutionary rate", I believe that the last 10 years have brought about the most significant change. Waste was once generally considered to be useless or unwanted materials. Even this has changed. Waste is now viewed as a resource. It is now converted into new products, used to generate energy and has a relatively high taxable value by weight. Waste is no longer waste as we once knew it. This evolution also applies to the provision of waste management services from a design perspective.
