Mitie Waste and Environmental has worked collaboratively with Sellafield (FM) to introduce standardised recycling units across the facilities management buildings within Sellafield. The aim of this was to significantly increase the overall non-radiological waste awareness across the site. Since the recycling units were introduced in 2012 over 1,178 tonnes of office-based recyclable material has been captured and recovered on-site, while rebates have been passed back to Sellafield from the sale of numerous materials streams.
