Beach Litter Rises 20 Percent

Litter found on beaches around the UK has gone up 20 percent in the past 10 years, according to new findings from the Marine Conservation Society, with those in Wales found to be the worst. According to the Society, most of the litter comes from the public, which includes plastic bags, drink bottles, food containers and drinks cans. The society says it now has a massive amount of evidence that not enough is being done to tackle the litter in the seas and on UK beaches. In 2014, the amount of litter per kilometre in Wales was almost 6 500, a 46 percent increase between 2013 and 2014.
