This has led to a new industrial revolution and the pace of change is even more rapid this time because of the influence of technology. We are starting to see a shift towards a more sustainable circular economy - manufacturing products from waste and sludge, and creating smart energy networks. No longer can society simply dispose of goods once they have served their purpose.
