Food waste app launches in Northern Ireland

A new mobile phone app to inform shoppers what local supermarket food is 'reduced to clear' has been launched in Northern Ireland. In what is thought to be a first for the food industry, Gander allows users to browse 'yellow label' reductions in real time, in a list format, or by map or store. A point of sale tracking system, developed by Henderson Technology, pushes the reduced food products to the mobile app as they are stickered in store.
