A Job To Die For?

Back in 2005, a crew member working on a Bournemouth RCV was accidentally run over and fatally injured while the vehicle was reversing in a residential street. It was not the first time crew members working on refuse and recycling operations in the UK have been injured, or killed, while at work. And, sadly, it won't be the last. But starting from the viewpoint that surely something as everyday as taking wheeled bins to an RCV parked by the kerb shouldn't be a life-threatening occupation, it begs the question: what more can be done to help reduce the risk?
