Mudslide Repair Costs Caltrans $12 Million

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) spent $12 million last summer to temporarily stabilize a slope and remove mudslide debris from the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Lebec. Engineers from Caltrans and Berryman & Henigar, San Diego, spent two months repairing I-5, a major north-south transportation corridor for California, after more than 8,000 cu yd of soil blocked the roadway.
