A British engineer has pushed the limits of suspension bridge design beyond the 2 mi span by turning his bridge sideways. The horizontal suspension bridge, or space web, can easily conquer the 2 mi span limit, according to designer Gordon Rose of Rose Associates, a London-based consulting engineering firm.
