San Diego Water Agency Will Build 100 mgd Treatment Plant

To keep pace with the growing demand for water in its service area, the San Diego County Water Authority (sdcwa) has decided to build a 100. mgd (378,500 m~3/d) water treatment plant at one go rather than construct the facility in two 50 mgd (189, 250 m~3/d) phases, as had been considered previously. "Uncertainty" regarding its ability to supply adequate amounts of treated water in the near future prompted the authority to pursue building the Twin Oaks Valley Water Treatment Plant all at once, says Tim Suydam, P.E., the project manager for the sdcwa.
