London Transit Center Is a Boon to Commuters

Anyone who lives outside a major metropolitan area and commutes to work knows the inconveniences of transferring from one mass transit system to another. Transferring from rail to subway, from subway to bus, or from bus to rail can be time consuming. To alleviate the difficulties associated with intermodal travel in the southern part of London, Arup Associates, a division of Arup based in London that combines the practices of architecture and engineering, has designed an innovative transportation center christened the Vauxhall Cross Transport Interchange. Located in the Vauxhall area near the Thames, the center will be a key hub for London's main rail, subway ("underground"), and bus systems as well as a symbol of regeneration for the area.
