Former Farmland Restored to Wetlands

The federal government is restoring 7,138 acres (2,889 ha) of drained wetlands in Indiana—an area that has been used for agricultural purposes since the late 1800s—to provide a watery habitat for migrating birds. The project is a joint effort of federal and state agencies, nonprofit conservation organizations, and consulting engineers.
