The goal in designing the new Minnesota Twins ballpark in Minneapolis was to create a modern field with a "classic" feel amid the hustle and bustle of the city's lively Warehouse District. The stadium-christened Target Field thanks to a multimillion-dollar, 2 5-year deal with the Minneapolis-based Target Corporation-is located on an 8-acre lot between Fifth and Seventh streets and thus is strategically positioned near three active railroad lines, three parking garages, several bridges, and an on-ramp to Interstate 394. It is scheduled to open for the Twins' first home game, on April 12, when they will take on the Boston Red Sox.
