DC Water Awards Design/Build Contract For Biosolids Upgrades At Blue Plains

AS PART OF A $400-million overhaul of the way that solids are handled at its 370 mgd Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant, the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water) recently awarded a design/build contract for the first of three remaining components to be constructed as part of the new biosolids management program. Along with implementing anaerobic digestion at Blue Plains, the project will entail the installation of the world's largest thermal hydrolysis system.
