摘要

MANY PEOPLE work in buildings that have few windows or windows that do not open. As a result, they often do not know whether it is warm or cold, wet or dry, or sunny or cloudy. But the people in Pittsburgh who work in or visit the new Center for Sustainable Landscapes (CSL), part of the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, not only will know what the weather conditions are; they will also understand how those conditions influence the building and how the building in turn affects the environment. That's because the CSL is being designed and constructed in line with the Living Building Challenge, which is said to be the most aggressive "green" building rating system in the world.
