During the structural design of the Musee du Louvre's new wing dedicated to Islamic art, the multidisciplinary design team of Hugh Dutton Associates (HDA), of Paris, the project's structural consultant, experienced firsthand the benefits of patience and perseverance, which Muslim scholars regard as key virtues. Appointed in December 2005 by the project's architects-Mario Bellini Architects, srl, of Milano (Milan), Italy, and Agence Rudy Ric-ciotti, of Bandol, France-HDA had to design through various iterations the support system and other elements of the undulating steel-framed glass roof that now covers the new galleries.
