A Museum to Remember

As the port from which the RMS Titanic sailed in April 1912 on its ill-fated maiden voyage, Southampton, located on the southern coast of the United Kingdom southwest of London, was a natural setting for a new maritime museum that features both a large temporary and an extensive permanent exhibit devoted to what is perhaps the most famous ocean liner in history. The SeaCity Museum opened in April to coincide with the centennial of the Titanic's sinking, and it also celebrates Southampton's role as a maritime Gateway to the World, as one of the venue's other exhibits is named.
