WE TOOK A DETOUR in our Higher Learning department this month ("CI Student Days Offers Real-World Experience," beginning on page 20). The monthly department typically highlights one innovative university program designed to reach and teach today's tech-savvy, socially conscious students; the profiles serve as examples for all civil engineering educators. This month, however, we focus on an annual event called Students Days, which brings together students from multiple universities to compete in a challenge and is sponsored by ASCE's Construction Institute. The five-day event combines social interaction, professional networking, educational seminars, and written and oral presentations-a model that may be worth emulating.
