Glasgow flood prevention scheme incorporates novel embankment protection system

In the hills above Glasgow, engineers are working on phase one of a ￡53m project designed to protect the city from millions of pounds of flood damage. For nearly a century, the White Cart Water has inflicted serious flooding on homes and other properties on the south side of Glasgow. The flood prevention scheme involves the formation of three flood storage areas upstream of the city and a network of flood defence walls downstream.
