Student and graduate members: The future of civil engineering surveying

At ICES, we realise that the student members of today could be the industry leaders of tomorrow, so we go to great lengths to welcome them to the institution. Targeting relevant university courses for accreditation is by far the best way to increase our cohort of student members. A further bonus is that the effort we put into attracting new student members increases our reach to relevant university courses on a worldwide basis. This has the potential to grow membership in areas where we have very little representation, therefore enhancing our status as an international professional body. By way of example, we have recently increased numbers in Sri-Lanka by over 100 following re-accreditation of the quantity surveying course at the University of Moratuwa. Significant increases have been made in China, where there is a large student member cohort at the University of Nottingham's satellite campus in Ningbo.
