CAE workstations and semicustom IC vendors offer increased design flexibility

Computer-aided engineering (CAE) workstations give circuit designers more control and flexibility for implementing new designs. Increasingly, semi-custom integrated circuits (ICs) (gate arrays and standard cells) are being incorporated into these new designs. The ability to create semicustom IC designs using CAE tools has many benefits. To be effective, the design method and the data must be of high quality, and the entire design process must be thoroughly tested. This requires the joint cooperation of the CAE and semicustom IC vendors.
