A new state-space method is proposed for the synthesis ofn“quasilog-domain” filters where the parasitic emitternresistance of transistors is built into the equation formulation. Thenexplicit exponential maps for log domain filters are replaced withnimplicit exponential maps yielding nodal equations for active filters.nThe theory, which unifies a class of externally linear filters includingnlog domain filters as a subset, is shown to be applicable to generalnhigher order filters. Circuit realization is discussed, some examplencircuit topologies are proposed, and simulation results are offered tonshow the potential of the approach in improving log-domain filternperformance
