Cambridge environmental assessments (CEA), part of the environmental consultancy ADAS UK Ltd, has developed a unique service to help take the pressure out of registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals (REACH) registration for UK organisations who are preparing to meet the requirements of the new European Union (EU) Chemicals legislation. Failure to comply in time could mean a ban on trading in Europe. The new chemicals regulation concerns the REACH, and is designed to control the exposure of chemical substances in the workplace, to the environment and the public. All organisations involved in the manufacture, import and use of chemicals as single substances, in preparations or in articles with an intended release, are now required to identify and notify their use throughout the supply chain, and must register all such substances with the European Chemicals Agency before the legislative deadlines between January 2009 and May 2018.
