摘要

As the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique has been invented since the late 1980s, search for the genetic information preserved in organism remains and fossils has come to be a new highlight in paleontology. Trace amounts of ancient DNA have been extracted from plant and animals fossils, mummies and the insects entombed in amber millions of years ago, Because the PCR technique can be used to amplify these ancient DNA for subsequent sequencing analysis, it is possible that the molecular phylogeny and evolutionary changes could be inferred based on the comparison of DNA sequences between the ancient DNA and modern organisms.
