Bladder carcinoma is the most common tumor in the urinary system. In 1996, a sample investigation showed that bladder carcinoma, in which more than 90% was mainly primary bladder transitional cell carcinoma (BTCC), was one of the ten highest mortality malignant tumors in China Bladder carcinoma represented 2% of all malignant tumors and has the fifth most common malignancy in men in Europe and North America. Heat shock protein 70 ( HSP70) gene can be activated by the accumulation of tumor proteins, which is capable of keeping the damaged cells from dying through binding to and escorting the aberrated proteins into subcellular sites. There was some evidence to display the important role of HSP70 against apoptosis. Disorders in regulating apoptosis seem to be vital to the pathogenesis and development of many diseases, including carcinoma. HSP70 appears to be one of the possible negative regulators of apoptosis. The inhibition of apoptosis allows a cell to proliferate into the uncontrolled growth, thus leading to tumor genesis and development. HSP70 overexpression is a biological indicator of stress experienced by tumor cells. In this study, we investigated the HSP70 expression and the association of HSP70 expression with the apoptosis in the BTCC cells out of 60 patients.
