摘要

The aim of this work is to propose a possible mechanism of calcium carbonate scaling on a heated surface in a flowing water system. By using crystallization concepts and the turbulent burst theory, a picture of deposition-free removal mechanism is presented, and a mathematical model is derived in which Hasson's ionic diffusion model is incorporated. Through verification with experimental data, it is shown that this model could be used to elucidate the removal process of calcium carbonate scaling occuring in a flowing water system. Future work should be done to gain knowledge of friction factor, flow velocity and scale-water interface temperature as a function of time, which are necessary for the prediction of scaling rate at any period of scaling.
