China is a country rich in coal and deficient in oil resources. According to experts' forecast, the recoverable oil reserves in China can last only 30 to 40 years, while the recoverable coal resources amount to one trillion tons that can last 1000 years for exploitation. Over the half century to come the energy structure of China will still based on coal predominantly. The technologies for gasification and liquefaction of coal are matured, but there is still a long way for commercialization of these technologies.
