Australian Prime Minister John Howard met the CNOOC Limited delegation headed by Wei Liucheng, Chairman and CEO of CNOOC Limited, on August 29 in Sydney. The Chinese oil delegation came to Sydney for holding the annual meeting of International Advisory Board (IAB) on August 27. During the meeting, Mr. Howard highly evaluated the progress of bilateral relations between Australia and China, and earnestly looked forward to a successful visit by Chinese President Hu Jintao. He also encouraged CNOOC Limited to play a more important and active role in the trade and energy cooperation between the two countries.
