Filters make new waves

These are interesting times for authors and publishers of classic textbooks. Many authors are now using the internet to disseminate knowledge, either to supplement a written text or to replace one. Some publishers recognise this new form of competition and produce low cost books, such as the 'Oxford chemistry primer' series. These are also interesting times for engineers and scientists interested in solid-liquid separation. Twenty years ago the choice of texts was primarily between one of the earlier editions of Svarovsky's book or one from Derek Purchas. Nowadays, there are a variety of texts on the subject, mostly priced beyond the pocket of an individual but within the price bracket of a technical library. However, there are some very good free websites that provide both qualitative and quantitative information on the subject.
