MITSUBISHI CHEMICAL TO ACQUIRE MITSUBISHI RAYON

Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings (MCH), Japan's largest chemical group, says it will launch a tender offer to buy Mitsubishi Rayon at the beginning of February 2010 and plans to complete the acquisition by the end of March 2010. MCH and Mitsubishi Rayon have reached an agreement under which Mitsubishi Rayon will become an operating business of MCH, alongside the three existing subsidiaries. This will enable MCH and Mitsubishi Rayon to consolidate management resources. MCH is implementing a mid-term management plan, dubbed APTSIS 10.
