U.S. Republicans Head to Key Committee Posts

Republican control of the House next year is expected to have a favorable impact on industry's agenda, industry attorneys say. One of the biggest changes will be in the Energy and Commerce committee where chairman Henry Waxman (D, CA) is expected to be replaced by Fred Upton (R, MI). However, it may be that not all of the changes will benefit industry. With increased scrutiny of EPA's budget, there will likely be a related slowdown in the agency's ability to process pesticide registrations and other functions.
