MAKING INTERCHANGEABLE FLOW SECTIONS FOR GAS-PUMPING PLANT

An important place has been taken in the development of compressors at Gazprom Ltd installations by the modification of existing equipment, which has provided a considerable saving in materials and money. A promising line for modifying gas pumping plant consists in replacing by one more efficient for current working conditions. The interchangeable flow sections (IFS) for GPP pumps may be classified as follows: 1. ones for line stations in which there is plant fitted with compressors whose pressure increase does not match the working conditions at the station. In that case, there is often an excessive consumption of fuel gas under suboptimal conditions or operation in states where the drive power is incompletely utilized, and consequently the gas transportation volume is reduced; 2. ones for additional compressor stations (CS) on major pipelines and head CS with pressure ratios elevated to 1.7 or more, whose installation involves a reduction in gas pressure at the inlet to the CS; 3. ones for GPP at intermediate storage facilities, where the changes in the sections are controlled by seasonal fluctuations in the input or output gas flows, which means that the appropriate pressure ratios vary extremely widely.
