A detailed description has been given of a conical vortex tube (CVT) working in divided mode, where all the basic symbols were given. This article concerns a CVT with external cooling, in the main with the proportion of cold flow μ = 1. This is attained by installing a plaque at the hot end of the vortex tube. The cooling agent is supplied to a jacket through a side tube adjoining the pressure vessel side. Figure 1 shows the CVT. In addition to the condition μ = 1, we performed experiments with external cooling when working in separating mode. In that case, a diaphragm having four holes was installed at the hot end. Table 1 gives the major geometrical dimensions in mm and the cone angle of the conical diffuser when used as a cooled tube CT system.
