A mathematical model has been developed for the material and energy fluxes in the complete life cycle of biodiesel fuel (BF) derived in a one-stage or two-stage process for general-purpose diesels. The methods incorporate a stage of deriving the BF, a stage of auxiliary processes, and a stage of BF use. The complete life cycle (CLC) for a fuel must be considered in choosing a future form of fuel for current conditions with proper allowance for the adverse effects on the environment, and the study includes the extraction or growth of the raw material, as well as the production, transportation, distribution, and use of the fuel in power plant.
