The experience of operation of ADA-900 gas analyzers in automatic control systems (ACS) for controlling technological process (TP)for recovery of sulfur in a Claus unit (SRU), designed and built by the German company Krupp-Koppers, in the by-products catching and processing department of the by-product coke plant (BCP) of the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine (MMC) has been analyzed and generalized. The problematic aspects of functioning intrinsic to automatic control systems with a feedback and to photometric control instruments, namely, ADA-900 analyzers, usable in them are discussed. The frequency -phase characteristics of the SRU control system in the BCP of MMC obtained from the experimental data allow use of the ADA-900 analyzer only if the parameters of the process with a periodicity of not less than 10 min are not disturbed. For reliable monitoring of the Claus ratio in the gases, regular independent calibration of the ADA-900 photometric analyzer is required.
